Just been told that the new V6 Highline is now 3,100KG down 100KG on the 4 cylinder 180.
And not the 3,500Kg in most reviews.

Is this true help needed quickly as I need to order today

"More robust. Sturdy ladder frame design and an impressive towing capacity of up to 3.1 tonnes. Exceptionally robust and with a premium finish, the Amarok is built to impress, even in heavy use. A warp-resistant ladder frame, which guarantees excellent body stability, and special leaf springs allow for a maximum payload of up to 1,154kg 1 and a trailer load of up to 3.1 tonnes"

    According to the brochure

Looks like regulations and capacities are difference in SA. In the UK it can take over 1 tonne payload, but according to the specs you put up it can only take 800 and something kg in SA. But you can carry 200kg more in the trailer. so overall Gross Train Weight seems to be the same

3,100Kg for the V6 100Kg below the old model?
South African, Australian looks like 3,300Kg
Germany 3,100 to 3,300Kg (Highline V6 Perminant four wheel drive)
Loads of early UK reviews still on the web talk of 3,500Kg.

Don't want a Isuzu, Ford, Mazda or Toyota
    Any idea why?
    Needed 3.5t
Do you have a link for EU weight page?

UK is not 3.5 tonne. Ford and isuzu were less than 3.5 tonne at launch but got increased as they put the vehicles through the appropriate UK type tests. I don't know if vw will do this but they would be daft not to as it's reported that the Mercedes will be 3.5 tonne. I also don't know if vw will offer replating of existing vehicles but knowing how little vw value their customers I would doubt it.

If the 3.5 tonne is important take a look at the ford and you want more than a work truck take a look at the ford.

Isuzu replated my 2004 D Max in 2005.
Agree that VW value their customer little.

    Hi Georg,

Can you translate for me please the sentence at the bottom of page 12.
Seams that if it a perminant 4 wheel drive variant then it can tow 3.5t

    Thank you

Seams the UK brochure states 3,100Kg for a Trendline 204PS 4Motion.
German brochure states 3,500Kg for the Highline 224PS Perminant 4Motion.
    Am I reading this right?

Amarok 3,0lt TDI engine with 150kW/165kW (i.e. it refers to both versions of the V6, 204 & 224hp), permanent all wheel drive 4Motion (that's the only version available in Germany, no 2wd), 8-speed automatic transmission, 2+1 leafsprings, and weight empty up to 2350kg (I believe this in Germany means ready-to-drive car, i.e. min 90% fuel, 75kg driver (...), all other fluids (lubricants, brake fluid, coolant) at full manufacturer spec. I think this is curb weight + driver?

Actually, that is 68kg for the driver and 7kg for his luggage (for his clothes I guess). So, if you drive naked you can tow more. Just hope you don't have to change a tire...

Considering the GCVW of 6t, and the minimum empty weight of 2078kg (car, 90% fuel, all fluids, driver) if you keep things to a minimum you can carry your young kids, hopefully your wife, strap your mother in law in the tub, and tow your boat.

3,100Kg even on the UK Amarok PDF states this is for a Amarok 204 Trendline with selectable 4 wheel drive.

    CONFUSED DOT COM
(British joke in more ways than one)

3290kg is the gross vehicle weight not the towing weight sadly
